Who We Are

What is ALTBSA?

The Avon Lake Travel Baseball and Softball Association, Inc. (ALTBSA) is an independent Ohio nonprofit corporation organized for charitable, educational, and youth athletic purposes. We promote youth baseball and softball while developing athletic skill, leadership, sportsmanship, discipline, integrity, teamwork, physical wellness, and community pride.

Our mission is to promote, develop, and sustain youth travel baseball and softball in Avon Lake through competitive teams, development opportunities, coach education, responsible governance, and community partnership. ALTBSA operates travel teams, clinics, camps, tournaments, player development programs, coach education, scholarship initiatives, and fundraising activities that further our exempt purposes.

Our Mission

Promote, develop, and sustain youth travel baseball and softball in Avon Lake through competitive teams, development opportunities, coach education, and community partnership.

Community Priority

Avon Lake resident athletes receive priority consideration. Athletes who attend Avon Lake schools or have a meaningful community connection may receive secondary consideration. Nonresident participation requires Board approval.

Travel Baseball

Competitive Youth Baseball

ALTBSA fields competitive travel baseball teams for youth athletes from 7U through 14U. Teams compete in leagues and tournaments approved by the Board of Directors, with sport-specific operations overseen by the Vice President of Baseball.

  • Age divisions from 7U through 14U
  • Multiple teams per age division when participation and resources support it
  • Home games at Weiss Field and Bleser Field
  • Player development activities, clinics, and camps
  • Board-appointed head coaches with background screening and safety training
  • Fundraising and sponsorship programs under Board oversight

Age eligibility is determined by the standard age cutoffs of the governing league, sanctioning body, or tournament authority approved by the Board. View our league affiliations →

Travel Softball

Fastpitch Softball Programs

ALTBSA provides competitive fastpitch softball for youth athletes from 10U through 14U. Teams represent Avon Lake in regional league and tournament play, with sport-specific operations overseen by the Vice President of Softball.

  • Age divisions from 10U through 14U
  • Multiple teams within an age division when supported by participation and coaching
  • Home games at Weiss Field and Bleser Field
  • Emphasis on skill development, team chemistry, and competitive integrity
  • Coach education and developmental standards for all programs
  • Season-long schedule of league and tournament competition

Get Involved

2027 Tryouts

Baseball tryouts are July 13 & 14, 2026 at Weiss Field. Softball tryouts are planned for August 2026 (dates TBD). All players are evaluated through a fair, station-based format — prior travel experience is not required.

Where We Play

Fields & Facilities

ALTBSA maintains its primary home field relationship with the City of Avon Lake. All participants comply with city rules, scheduling procedures, maintenance expectations, and facility use conditions established by written agreement.

Bleser Field

City Partnership

City of Avon Lake

Field use is coordinated through the ALTBSA Scheduler in cooperation with the City of Avon Lake, including compliance with parking rules, weather closures, and field care expectations.
